Nana Banyin Acquah Thompson, the Western Regional Director of Food and Agriculture, spoke on behalf of the Minister of Food and Agriculture. He urged traditional leaders in mining communities to take a stand against illegal mining (galamsey) as the government intensifies efforts to combat these destructive activities.
Thompson highlighted the severe impact of galamsey on farmlands, warning that the country faces serious risks, including a sharp decline in food production, if immediate action is not taken.
